Q-1. What does it mean to be a spiritual person?
A-1. To be a spiritual person means that we as conscious beings rise above our bodily instincts and limitations.
Q-2. What are the bodily instincts and limitations?
A-2. Bodily instincts are the impulses of our biological body and include the vast range of biological, psychological and lower mental faculties.
Q-3. How can we rise above our bodily limitations when are actually living with our body?
A-3. We are combination of a soul and a physical body. The soul has a “heart” which is an organ of the faith. The higher possibilities of heart and soul include certainty, higher intellection and gnosis. It is called “heart” because it is as central to the soul as physical heart to the body. The function of center is always that of attraction and radiation and in accordance with the degree of its purification and love, the heart receives from the worlds which lie above and beyond the biological and physical realms.
Q-4. How can we achieve the station of heart?
A-4. This station is achieved by acting upon the holy scriptures revealed by God and following the life path of prophets and saints.
Q-5. Why cannot we elevate spiritually when living a happy worldly life, without following the sacred path of prophets and saints?
A-5. We know scientifically that the planet earth in comparison with the whole universe is smaller than a dot. Same is the case for present worldly life when compared with the much advanced life in the hereafter. If we always follow our bodily instincts we get occupied in these instincts and are not able to enter into any advanced level in the hereafter. This is for example like a buffalo, with all her beauty as buffalo has no manners of sitting in our furnished drawing rooms. The paths of prophets and saints help our souls grow their capacity to enter into the lives of advanced levels containing everlasting peace and love (paradise), whereas by ignoring this path and leading an immoral life, at our biological death, we become vulnerable to enter into a life much lower in degrees than our present life. (hell).
Q-6. Why is that Almighty God does not guide all the souls to enter the paradise?
A-6. God has sent prophets and gave them books to guide mankind. God says in the Holy Quran, “Hence whoever strives hard does so only for his own good: for verily, God does not stand in need of anything in all the worlds.”. So it is purely for our own benefit to choose and tread a path that would lead us to an ultimate success.
Q-7. What is kind of successful life in the hereafter?
A-7. Except for those who are blessed with some glimpses of paradisal life during this lifetime, it is difficult for a person to clearly imagine the pattern of successful life in the hereafter. One may consider immense peace and highest feelings of love, divinely presence and company of highly purified souls. Countless bounties whose colors and tastes keep on flourishing. No fears no worries.
Q-8. Other than following the paths of prophets and saints, what generally I should do to awaken my soul and heart?
A-8. Purify your heart. Control and moderate your worldly material goals. Be modest, kind, loving and beneficial to the people and all the creatures of this universe.
Q-9. How do I know that I am on a spiritual path?
A-9. Your heart is softened. You feel that you are a heavenly soul much above this biological body and inherited and adapted psychology. You have dreams and intuitions of the higher realms and start knowing that your soul has a mission in this life.
Q-10. What if after doing everything I am still not satisfied with my spiritual awakening?
A-10. Increase your generosity towards humanity in all manners, through morality, social and financial welfare and education. Read the books of elevated Sufis and find and meet with the spiritual people around you. Do not stop in the middle or stay and agree on any pseudo knowledge and practice.
